Single-use plastics may be convenient, but they reek havoc on our environment. It is estimated that 1 million marine animals die every year due to plastic debris in the ocean. Sea turtles are especially susceptible because they often mistake plastic bags for jellyfish. At first glance, it does kinda look like one, right?
Marine animals may not know the difference, but we do. Rethink using plastic bags whenever and wherever you can. Even if we don't completely eliminate them, greatly reducing their usage can help. Instead of single-use plastic bags, use a soft re-usable bag (made of cotton, canvas, or jute), paper bag, basket bag, or even no bag at all!
